Make Your Own Ink Pads

Throwing your money away on new ink pads? With a little bit of time and a few materials, you can make your own ink pads at half the cost.

The materials that you need

Purchase a packet of powdered clothing dye in the shade you desire. Find rubbing alcohol and glycerin from a pharmacy or a health food store. Get a small plastic box with a well-fit lid. Pick out a quality piece of foam rubber or felt.

The steps that you take

Cut your foam or felt to match the dimensions of the box bottom. Place the foam or felt in the bottom of the lidded box. Using a disposable container, combine the clothing dye with a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol. Using a plastic spoon, mix these two ingredients until the combination becomes a thin cream. Add five tablespoons of glycerin and stir until completely combined. Carefully pour the ink mixture onto the foam or felt. Make sure the surface is saturated but not too wet.

You are now ready to use your custom-made stamp pad! Store any leftover dye in a closed container for additional ink pad refills.
